unless i find a simpler version, this is recipe #1 for the week, in addition to the kale slaw, polenta, and stromboli from last week which have yet to be made, although i do have the ingredients for all of them…

update: this was awesome. took a fair amount of prep time (~2.5 hours), and roasting the veggies in the oven got some bread crumbs that were already in there nice and smoky, but overall, a huge success. every time i have ratatouille, i’m amazed at how something so simple can turn into something so yummy, and this time was no different. yay!

update: jeff made this, so i don’t know how it was preparation-wise (i do know he microwaved the squash and it turned out fine), but it tasted very good. we topped it with lots of parmesan, and felt super healthy eating it.

- a. it’s a big stalk of celery, thank you very much, and it’s all i ever needed at a time

b. what grocery store are you in? i didn’t buy much beef in tokyo, but i shopped enough that i know that you don’t know what you’re talking about and are (possibly) in some ginza department store, or that you just bought a knock-off prada wallet… because beef doesn’t cost that much in “any supermarket in Tokyo,” period.
